Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD) Treatment

Overview

Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD), also known as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), is a common hormonal disorder in women of reproductive age.

The first step in PCOD treatment is accurate diagnosis. We do a pelvic examination, blood tests to measure hormone levels, and imaging tests, like ultrasound, to visualize the ovaries and check for cysts. Once confirmed, our team of gynaecologists and obstetricians, collaborate to design an effective treatment plan.

Medication is a primary treatment avenue. Birth control pills are prescribed to regulate menstrual cycles and reduce androgen levels, alleviating many PCOD symptoms. Other medications are administered for patients struggling with infertility due to PCOD.

We may also prescribe anti-androgens for women experiencing symptoms like excessive hair growth. We also provide counselling to patients on lifestyle modifications, including weight loss and exercise, which can mitigate PCOD symptoms and improve overall well-being.

In cases where medications don’t provide relief or if there are other complicating factors, surgical treatments such as ovarian drilling can be considered. This laparoscopic procedure involves making tiny punctures in the ovary to restore normal ovulation.

We offer a comprehensive approach to PCOD treatment, ensuring that women receive personalised care to manage and alleviate their symptoms.
