Overview

Parotidectomy (Parotid surgery) is to remove all or part of a major salivary gland in the cheek called the parotid gland due to tumours, both benign or malignant. Conducted by specialised surgeons, the procedure requires general anaesthesia. The surgeon carefully excises the affected tissue while preserving facial nerve function. Postoperative care includes managing pain, monitoring facial nerve weakness and ensuring proper healing. Pathological analysis of the excised tissue helps determine further treatment.
