Cough and Asthma

Overview

Cough variant asthma is a type of asthma that features a dry, nonproductive, persistent cough. There may be no symptoms such as wheezing or shortness of breath. At Srinivasa Hospital, the treatment includes administering bronchodilators like albuterol through inhalers or nebulisers to open airways. Corticosteroids may be given to reduce inflammation. Oxygen therapy supports breathing, while antihistamines or antibiotics address underlying allergies or infections. The respiratory status is routinely monitored and stabilised. Patients are advised to avoid triggers and proper inhaler use.
